OCP's Creative Services (three graphic designers and I) redesigned much of their semiannual catalog. We were influenced by high level, well written catalogs (Peterson's) as well as the nervy attitude of web retailing. We tried to make holding and looking through OCP's 144 page catalog a web-like experience. Too many of our established viewers would check "What's New" and then toss. We tried to make everything new and everything of value--making it a reference to be kept at least until the next issue arrived.
Tom Booth's page was an essay on why the composer was someone to know and a lead on how to use his music. Our audience, parish musicians, are usually overworked and underappreciated. They are trying to stay alive as composers, musicians and spiritual ministers themselves. Tom was one of them, blessed with a knack for teen music. He could be a welcome resource for a difficult part of their own ministries. I wanted to enable them to make a quick, intelligent decision whether Tom's music could really help--and to keep relying on OCP as a continuing resource and partner.

Tom Booth doesn't try to write for teens, yet he's been twice named as one of the top Catholic musical artists for teens by YOU! magazine. He does care for teens and the problems of their culture. Tom is co-founder of Life Teen--the spiritual program for youth that's become a nation wide phenomenon. He is a "rock" solid singer/songwriter with a grown-up sound that teens naturally adopt as their own. Tom's music is exciting and evangelical, combining rock/pop, jazz, reggae, gospel, praise and choral.... Tom has a degree in Music and Religious Studies, serves as a music and youth minister at St. Timothy Catholic Community Center in Mesa, Arizona, and directs the music for the national Life Teen Program. |
